Banana farm! This one’s Del Monte, but we passed by Chiquita too. Intricate tracks criss-cross the farms so that workers can pull bags of bananas to this sorting center. The blue bags were open on the bottom so I suspect they weren’t so that animals couldn’t get to the bananas, but more of a protection from being bruised in transit. While in Tortuguero, people complained of the pesticides and fertilizers used on these farms flowing into the park, disrupting the wildlife and killing off Mangroves.
