Prince Albert Memorial, Hyde Park, London
I was very confused by this gleaming, ornate memorial on the edge between Hyde Park and the busy city. It was Prince Albert, right? Not King? And why the reference to India? I snapped pictures, stared, and moved on.
Apparently, Prince Albert was married to Queen Victoria and died from Typhoid in the late 1800’s. And there are four of those crazy statues that represent all the places England had a hand in, including the one of India that I saw and one of the Americas that I missed. Thanks, Wikipedia!
